Weight Loss Through Healthier Diet
Hi, my name is Shozab. This is my story of weight loss through a healthy diet. Like with many other young individuals in our region at the age 25 I decided to go to the USA with the aim of attaining higher education and look for a brighter future in the world of opportunities. I started my studies and took up a part time job at a fast food restaurant in the nearby block.
Along with paying me hourly wages, the restaurant offered me free food and meals during my shifts. It seemed like bliss for me in the beginning, having all the burgers, french fries and fried foods all the time. Staying away from my family and living in a single room with a roommate made home cooked healthy meals become a dream for me. My routine involved waking up in the morning going to school and coming back. In the evening, I would go for work and return late at night all stuffed with fast food.
Following year when I went to vacationing back home, then it hit me! I had put on loads and loads of weight. My bathroom scale showed a drastic increase of 36 kilograms. All my relatives looked at me with astonishment and amazement. It was then that I decided that I needed to change my lifestyle all together and work out for weight loss. Living like a teenager and eating his diet was not an option.
The first thing I did to start weight loss regime was to cut down on the free food. As they say there is no such thing as free lunch. This diet also meant loads of lard and grease for my unhealthy body. Instead of taking burgers and fries, I took a healthy diet like salads and juices. Spent a little amount on my room and started a small kitchenette with basic cooking facilities.
My morning started a little earlier as I went for a little jog around the block. Made myself a good healthy breakfast and prepared an afternoon snack full of fruits for taking along. The drastic rationalization of my diet plan included the introduction of nuts as a source of good fat for me. This made me active and I did not feel lazy while studying. Cutting down on coffee and sugary items also made me feel much fresher and relaxed. At night, I took a light supper diet with white meat like fish and chicken and that too steamed or grilled.
Within next 6 months, I had a weight loss of 25 kilograms and my physique was even better than before. My belly was now tucked in to about 33 inches from a huge 40. I started to look good in photos and did not need to cover up my appearance in front of people. Apart from the weight loss, socially also I improved a lot. People started to look at me differently when I was overweight. But now I was much more attractive and pleasurable to talk to. My stubbornness decreased and no longer felt rejected or ashamed of my physical appearance.
